Chaplaincy Guidelines provide a grounding for both chaplains and their employers to understand the role and benefits of chaplaincy and spiritual care within healthcare. Their implementation will improve support for patients, family members and health care workers.
The 2015 NHS Guidelines respond to the 2010 Equality Act in caring for patients and service users whatever their religion or belief. They also recognise the development of chaplaincy into specific areas including Palliative Care, and the community. They also affirm research and innovation as important contributors to improved practice.
